Description :
Ciconia is the Latin name for the white stork, an emblematic bird that finds one of its main natural habitats in Portugal. This species is particularly well suited to the agricultural and forest landscapes of the Alentejo, where the tranquillity of the territory, the abundance of food and the balanced relationship between man and nature create the ideal conditions for its permanence.
Every year, with the arrival of autumn, the storks begin their migration to Africa, returning in December to start the nesting period. In July, the juveniles take their first flights, marking the beginning of a life that can reach 33 years, characterised by a strong connection to the territory and fidelity to the same mate over time.
Sensitive to the importance of preserving the species and its natural habitat, Alexandre Relvas decided, from the outset of the project, to install nests when the first vines were planted, creating conditions for the storks to reproduce safely. Today, these birds are an integral part of the landscape of our estates, becoming a local symbol of balance, continuity and respect for nature — values that are at the origin and inspiration of our Ciconia brand.
