Detailed description

Pesto is a typical Ligurian seasoning, traditionally used to flavour Pasta.

It’s a raw sauce, a mixture in wich the ingredients are cold blended, not cooked.

The essential ingredients are basil, oil, pine nuts, garlic and Grana Padano cheese.

Ideal to flavour pasta, trofie, dumplings and Lasagne, it is also used (expecially in the Anglo-Saxon countries) as a spread on bruschetta, sandwiches and to dress salad.

For a perfect result we suggest to dilute it as needed with the pasta cooking water.

More info

To safeguard the freshness and the organoleptic characteristics of the raw materials, and to have full control of the productive chain, Frantoio Venturino in the 2010 has implemented a fresh basil production line by which in the Summer season produces in-house a semifinished product ( a mixture of basil, oil and salt) using fresh basilico Genovese PDO. The semifinished product could be immediately destinated to the pesto production or placed in the cold stores to be used in productions outsides of the Summer season.

The red pesto is an evolution of the known and traditional Pesto alla Genovese so much so that the recipe contains many of the Pesto alla Genovese ingredients like Basil (strictly basilico Genovese PDO), the oil, Grana Padano Cheese and pine nuts. Its distinctive characteristic is the use of the pulp and of the tomato concentrate from which its tipical red colour comes from.

Fratelli Semeria

F.lli Semeria was born in 1980 thanks to Celeste Semeria in a little oil mill sited in Pontedassio, typical suburb of the Imperia’s hinterland. A little later, Fratelli Semeria, becomes a point of reference for the production and packaging of high quality extra virgin olive oil, the famous Imperia Hinterland ‘s pure olive oil .

Between the first and the second world war, Celeste’s sons (Giovanni Battista, Stefano and Francesco) have moved the Company to the center of Imperia Oneglia, which has been for many years the capital of olive oil, (where 300 warehouses were working in the trade of the famous yellow gold), with distribution in Italy and abroad.

The Semeria’s third generation family (Roberto and Valerio) manage the firm until 2012 when the trademark is bought by the Venturin Family.

The Fratelli Semeria trademark was restyled at the end of 2015, and under this brand the Company produces and distributes delicacies of the ligurian tradition like pesto, pate and olives, extra virgin olive oil, olive oil and sunflower oil.
