Timbro presents meat and rice expansion strategy at SIAL Paris, building on its sugar operations

The trading company is expanding the range of food products offered to clients in Africa and Asia. Its agribusiness division expects revenue to reach BRL 8 billion in 2026.

Timbro is participating in SIAL Paris 2026, held from October 17 to 21 at Paris Nord Villepinte in France, where it is presenting its diversification strategy for international food trade. The company trades more than 1.3 million metric tons of sugar annually. According to Timbro, it accounts for approximately 20% of the commodity’s imports in certain African markets.

According to the company, the strategy builds on the client portfolio developed through its sugar operations, as sugar buyers also import other food products. In late 2025, Timbro began exporting Brazilian meat through Timbro Foods, which trades beef, pork and poultry, primarily to Africa and, to a lesser extent, Asia. In 2027, the company plans to begin trading rice sourced from India and Thailand. The operation will be managed by its Dubai office and will focus on the African market. The portfolio also includes pulses, such as green mung beans and black matpe, as well as sesame seeds.

In the sugar segment, Timbro maintains long-term agreements with Brazilian mills and cooperatives, providing these suppliers with hedging instruments and financial solutions. The company also sources ethanol from approximately 30 mills, an operation that generates around BRL 1 billion in annual revenue.

Timbro’s agribusiness division expects revenue to reach BRL 8 billion in 2026, up from approximately BRL 7 billion in 2025, representing a 14% increase. This amount corresponds to roughly one-third of the company’s projected total revenue of BRL 25 billion for the year.

“SIAL provides an opportunity to showcase the scale of our operations to the international market and our ability to bring Brazilian production to a wide range of buyers and markets. Our goal is to strengthen relationships, identify new opportunities and turn them into long-term business,” says Pietro Costantino, partner and Head of Agribusiness Sales at Timbro.
