Detailed description

Description :

Since its founding in the 1950s, Hankook Tea has established and directly managed the Honam Tea Estates, one of the largest tea-growing regions in southern South Korea, covering over 82 acres (331,000 m²). The estates include 13 acres (52,500 m²) in Jangseong County, 41 acres (166,000 m²) in Yeongam County, and 17 acres (68,800 m²) in Haenam County. Major cultivars include traditional Korean varieties as well as Ryofu.

Located at a higher latitude than Japan and Jeju Island, the region experiences consistently cooler temperatures, which enhance the naturally brisk and slightly bitter characteristics of green tea. This results in a more pronounced and robust flavor profile compared to Japanese or Jeju-grown green teas and matcha. It is particularly well-suited for those who prefer a stronger green tea taste. In the case of matcha, its intensity pairs exceptionally well with milk or plant-based alternatives, creating well-balanced and flavorful lattes. Discover these harmonious teas that bring together clarity, structure, and depth.
