`'Goygol Wine Plant'', OJSC which has 150 years of history, is the oldest wine processing enterprise in Azerbaijan. The foundation of the Goygol Winery, one of the oldest wine-making company in the South Caucasus, was laid by Swabs - the Germans who settled in the present-day Goygol region of Azerbaijan called Yelenendorf in 1860. At the end of the 19th century, most of the wine products produced in Azerbaijan fell on Goygol Winery. According to statistics of 1926, 48% of grape harvested in Azerbaijan was processed at Goygol Winery. During that period 670,000 buckets of wine were stored in 13 wine cellars of the enterprise. In those years, along with wine, brandy production areas were also created. "Ganja", "Baku", "Yubiley", "Azerbaijan", "Moscow" and "Shirvan" brandy produced in the enterprise have won 16 gold, 11 silver and 1 bronze medal in international competitions.Along with the application of cutting-edge technologies, `'Goygol Winery'' which necessarily conserves classical wine traditions, operates the most up-to-date equipment used in the European alcoholic beverage industry.
Saperavi, Rkatsiteli, BayanShira, Madrasa, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Muscat, Grenache, Sauvignon blanc, Pinot Noir varieties of grapes which are popular in the Caucasus and Europe are cultivated in the 507 hectare vineyards of the enterprise. Produced wine is matured in stainless steel barrels and oak barrels placed in 800 meter long, 15 meter deep wine cellar with the total area of 6,000 square meters built in the middle of the 18th century. Presently, `'Goygol Wine Plant'' OJSC, in addition to brandy and wine products, produces various types of vodka products as well as non-alcoholic soft drinks.
